UKATA asbestos awareness training for large organisations

If you have a large number of staff that require training in asbestos awareness, the time away from work that classroom training involves can be significant. We recognise this and our online asbestos awareness training is the ideal solution – whether you have one member of staff to train or thousands.

Who is this training for?

Our 90 minute online course is aimed at making the candidates aware of the dangers associated with exposure to airborne asbestos fibres through unknowingly coming into contact with asbestos materials. It does not train you in how to work with asbestos containing materials. It’s a Category A Awareness Course – aimed at anyone liable to disturb or encounter asbestos in their normal daily activities.

Benefits of online over classroom

As we mentioned above, the costs of training large numbers of staff is considerable. A standard classroom asbestos awareness course can take up to 4 hours – and that doesn’t include any travelling time if the course is held in an off-site venue. This can mean the best part of an entire working day lost per member of staff.

Our online version only takes around 90 minutes, can be taken in the office or at home, and can be completed in more than one sitting. Not only that, but the course is also approximately 50% cheaper than a typical classroom. If you have 100 members of staff to train, this adds up to a huge saving.

Elearning is also shown to be just as effective as its classroom equivalent in terms of the quality of learning and knowledge retention.

Course content

This course is divided into four sections:

  • What is asbestos?
  • Asbestos and its effects on health
  • Asbestos Containing Materials
  • Asbestos bans, laws, surveys and registers

Each section concludes with a short quiz. At the end of the course, there’s a final quiz which the user must pass to obtain their UKATA certificate. All the questions in the final quiz are drawn from UKATA’s official question bank.

You can find more information about the course here.

UKATA accredited

The course has been through a lengthy accreditation process by UKATA (the UK Asbestos Training Association) and is one of only a few UKATA awareness courses available online.
